About Us
HVAC
system and its costs to operate December was a very cold month for us. We had a blizzard in the mix, many windy days, and quite a few days with below zero temps and wind chills. We used about 2,000 KWh more this month than last month, so our total bill to heat the house, the garage, and the hot water this month was $214. If I recall correctly in the old house we were typically getting about $300 propane bills already and this year would be worse because of the tie to the oil prices. If we keep up at this rate, assuming we have about the same costs for January and Feb is the same as November, our total to heat the home this year including the hot water will run about $800. We should see the real savings this summer with the system since it is most efficient at cooling. Typical cooling bills for the summer should not run more than $30 to $40 I'm told. That would put us at about $1,000 for heating, cooling, and providing us domestic hot water. Not to shabby! If we see anything different than this I will let you know, but so far the system is certainly paying for itself. |
